Privacy policy
What this website collects (an email address, if you give it) and what the ToneTrace app collects (nothing).
Operated by ToneTrace. Last updated .
This policy covers two things: the website at tonetrace.app, and the ToneTrace desktop application.
The app
The current ToneTrace early-access build collects nothing and sends nothing. It runs on your computer, reads the audio files you point it at, stores its analysis in a database on your disk, and makes no network requests. There is no account, no licence check and no telemetry.
For launch we are evaluating an optional faster processing path that would send audio for analysis on machines that cannot keep up. If it is offered, it will be opt-in, this policy will be updated first to say exactly what is sent and where, and the app will ask before sending anything.
The website
What we collect
If you request early access, we store the email address you enter, along with the DAW and platform you optionally select. We use a double opt-in: your address is not added to the list until you click the link in the confirmation email.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or fingerprinting. If site analytics are enabled, they are provided by Plausible, which is cookie-free and does not track you across sites; it records page views and aggregate, non-identifying information such as country and browser type.
How we use it
Early-access and launch emails about ToneTrace. Nothing else. We do not sell, rent or share the list.
Where it is stored
The mailing list is held by our mailing-list provider on our behalf. The website's own hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, requested page, time) for a short period for security and reliability.
Your choices
Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, which removes you from the list. To have your address deleted entirely, reply to any of our emails and ask. You may also ask what we hold about you; the answer will be your email address and, if you gave them, your DAW and platform.
Children
The site and the early-access programme are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their details.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be mentioned in the next early-access email.
